Author’s Note: My first Eunhae. It’s a few weeks old. I’m not happy with it. What do you think? Prompt 009 Coffee Eunhyuk/Donghae 21/100

One day out of the blue, you realize you hate her. She had just cuddled up to you on the couch, laying her head on your shoulder, giggling at something on the television and you knew you did. When she smiles up at you sweetly, trustingly, you know hates too strong word. It’s what she is that you hate. And what she isn’t. You hate that she never sweats or misses a shower, you hate she says ‘ew’ at things you think are cool. You hate that she never wants to do what you want to because that’s such a boy thing to do. You hate that she doesn’t understand why you dance for hours without stopping. She doesn’t help you try to convince the hyungs aliens exist, even if its just a game because your just aren’t a kid anymore.

You notice her perfume makes your nose itch and not in a good way. Her smell makes you think of pink unicorns and rainbows when your favorite smell makes you think of dance studios, bleeding toes and going on your third day of no sleep. Her smile doesn’t make your heart race because she doesn’t smile big enough that her gums show. Her touch doesn’t make your skin tingle like a certain hand at your lower back does. She doesn’t always quite get you because she wasn’t there when your father died to see you break and then put the pieces back together for the camera.

It dawns on you why you are with her. Why you are at her place tonight watching shows when you could be playing soccer or video games with him. You think this would make your father happy. But would your father be happy for you when you are so unhappy? You don’t think so, at least you hope so. It had been always so natural for the two of you that you don’t really know when you went from best friends to maybe something more. Maybe you never did, maybe you always were but weren’t ready yet to admit it.

You stand up and apologize to her. You say you don’t want to lead her on, that someone else would be right for her. She cries and you wish she wouldn’t because you were never good at handling tears if they weren’t from your members. When she asks you why she can’t be with you, you tell her, her feet don’t stink enough. You leave her there crying on her couch and know she will get over it. You had only been together for a little bit. And if not she’ll make herself feel better by blasting you on the internet.

You aren’t ready to go home right away and wander the streets. You wonder if he’s been waiting for you to wake up or if he’s been just as blind as you. You don’t care. You won’t give him a choice. It’s the two of you, it always has been and always will be. When you get back to the dorms its midnight and he’s already asleep you’re told by members milling around putting off going to bed. You go into his room and shake him awake careful not to disturb his roommate. When he wakes up and asks what hell you are doing you tell him you want to go get coffee. He looks at you weirdly but that’s okay if he’s confused. He’ll understand soon enough.

Rejection is not a possibility to you. You won’t let it be one, you tell yourself as you watch him dress quickly. Seeing a picture of you two on his dresser, with your arms round each other you don’t think it will be a problem.
